Zachary Levi, Krysta Rodriguez and the cast of the Broadway musical comedy First Date will celebrate the release of their original cast album with a one-night-only concert at 54 Below on October 15. Proceeds will go to Operation Smile, a charity supported by Levi that provides free surgeries to children around the globe with cleft lip and other facial deformities.
The original Broadway cast album of First Date is currently available exclusively at the Longacre Theatre, with a digital release set for September 24 and a wide release on October 15. The album, featuring the score by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, is produced by Altar Identity Studios and released by Yellow Sound Label. The 54 Below concert will feature Levi, Rodriguez, Sara Chase, Kristoffer Cusick, Blake Hammond, Kate Loprest, Bryce Ryness, Eric Ankrim, Vicki Noon and Sydney Shepherd.
Levi and Rodriguez star as strangers who are set up on a blind date, with the rest of the cast appearing as a variety of ex-lovers, uptight family members and not-so-supportive friends throughout the evening. The musical is a 90-minute romp through one hilarious night, wherein a first date dinner is served up with a side of Google background checks, fake bailout calls and one or two imaginary voices who have advice to dish out to the two bold daters.
Directed by Bill Berry, First Date features a book by Austin Winsberg, musical staging by Josh Rhodes, orchestrations by August Eriksmoen and musical supervision, vocal and incidental arrangements by Dominick Amendum.
